Firewatch Tower

About Me

My name is Dahlia (Day-lee-ah) Erick, I was born and raised in the Sundre area. After graduating from Olds High School, I moved to Nova Scotia to earn a bachelor of Arts, double major in English and Applied Psychology, from Acadia University.

Afterwards, I tucked my degree away and headed to the woods to work as a Lookout Observer in a Firewatch Tower. I know what you're saying, "what does that have to do with birth?" I work long days, on my feet, keeping myself mentally sharp and alert, to practice for your long labour!

In the winter I live in the Sundre area and referee mainly female hockey in Olds. I am known as an old soul, wise for my age, and I've been blessed with the knowledge of when to speak up and when to stay silent. In the face of wildfires, screaming coaches, and your unpredictable birth, I maintain a calm and quiet approach. I possess a love of story telling and a burning curiosity about women and motherhood.

I took my Birth and Postpartum Doula course through Doula School Canada in March 2026. I am currently working on my certification requirements. I am excited to add the role of Doula to my variety of careers and to expand my connections to community through the doorway of birth and parenthood.

I'm sorry you couldn't find me. I have been in the woods. I put myself there because I couldn't be good. I have been running with foxes and running with crows and I have found myself a home where no one goes.
